Information Dissemination
Goal: Disseminate exemplary
policies and practices that are derived from innovative training, service, and
research programs.
Information dissemination has also been a vital link between the
Institute, the
University and the community. This activity has been carried out by (a)
dissemination of products, (b) provision of a lending library, and (c) establishment of
information resource centers.
The following programs are representative of the Institute's information
dissemination projects. The links following each will take
you to a complete profile of that project:
Missouri Community
Advocates Network (MoCAN)
MoCAN will create teams of dedicated, trained AmeriCorps*VISTA
volunteers who will go into many avenues of the community, from schools to
businesses to churches to state departments to human service providers. Half
the VISTA volunteers will be people with disabilities and half will be
family members of people with disabilities. Visit the
web site. The VISTAs will provide
information dissemination, awareness and training to the community, in order
to create more active roles in supporting and including individuals with
disabilities into society.

Missouri Developmental
Disabilities Resource Center
The Missouri Developmental Disabilities
Resource Center (MODDRC) is an information and referral service located at the
Institute, and is funded by the Missouri Planning Council for Developmental
Disabilities. Center staff helps locate needed disability related services
and obtain current print, video, and audio materials on specific disabilities or
disability related topics. Disability related information is also provided
on the Resource Center’s web site. Services
are available at no cost to families, individuals, or organizations in Missouri.

Provider Handbook for
Organizational Development and Quality Enhancement
This handbook is designed to provide information, advice, and resources to
support individuals to develop and implement a plan to become a new service
provider. It is also designed to assist existing service providers to enhance
the operations of their agencies. The
handbook provides support in navigating
the maze of contracting, reporting, training, licensing, and other provider
requirements. In addition, it provides an overview of a number of management
and quality improvement issues related to the development and ongoing management
of a business. |
